iPlay America – Sam’s Most Heavily-Themed Credit of 2022

Is this normal? You make plans with a friend to drive out to a farmer’s market 20 minutes away to get some delicious pretzel logs from the Amish Market. Instead you end up 150 minutes away, traveling through two other states, just to claim an SBF Visa roller coaster credit? Of course it is. All of you have surely done this. It can’t be just Sam and I, right? Right?

Yeah, this really happened yesterday when Sam and I changed our plans several times and went on an adventure. When we hit mid-day and had no idea what else to do, that’s when I realized we weren’t too far away from iPlay America. Well, unless you think 75 minutes away is far. For us, it wasn’t. Expensive? Sure. These gas prices are the worst.

There is an abundance of theming for iPlay America's SBF Spinning Coaster, Freedom Rider.

Came for Freedom Rider

Last year I stopped at iPlay America in Freehold, N.J. during a day trip to several Jersey shore amusement parks. You might remember my Quest for 399 series from September of 2021. My stop at iPlay came in Part 2 of the six part series. There I found easily the most well-themed SBF Visa spinning coaster I have ever seen. Well, that coaster became Sam’s 152nd credit yesterday and thus far, her most well-themed credit of 2022. Sorry Pantheon!

Sam and I jumped in the front car, the same one I sat in last year. I didn’t get too much spinning during my 2021 visit, unlike the second car ride Sam and I had on Myrtle Turtle at Pavilion Park in Myrtle Beach last year. The same held true this visit with the first car, but the couple sitting behind us in the second car was spinning like mad. I’m wondering if these cars can be set individually for more or less spinning? If anyone knows, please reach out. If it is the case, I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t be marked so people could get the type of ride they’re aiming to experience.

Stayed for the Arcade & Almost Reverse Time Too

Sam and I had a bunch of game/ride credits to use after Freedom Rider. Sadly we did not pay attention to iPlay hours. We saw they were open until 9 p.m. on Google and didn’t look into it any further. Big mistake relying on just Google. Always check a company’s site for hours, menu, etc.

Sam and I spent some time playing some games and then decided to give Reverse Time a try. Neither of us planned to be getting on rides yesterday so we didn’t wear pants with zippered pockets. We walked out to the car to drop off some loose articles and then made our way to the back of iPlay to give this wild looking flat ride a try.

As we walked up, two girls were getting off the ride and the ride operator told us he was doing an empty cycle, but the ride was closed afterward. It was 7:56 p.m. We were puzzled, but then saw a lot of ride ops closing rides throughout the building. Low and behold, iPlay was open until 9 p.m., but rides closed at 8 p.m. Google doesn’t tell you that. Once again, our fault for not looking on iPlay’s site. We didn’t complain or anything. Instead, I shot the off-ride video above and we went back to playing some games.

Since we have a bunch of credits left on our card we will surely make use of it later in the year when we head back out to some of the Jersey beaches for some missing credits – one Sam doesn’t have and the ones I missed out on in 2021.

Have you visited iPlay America? It’s such an amazing place full of all kinds of rides, games, and attractions. If you’re in the area, I fully recommend stopping by. I wish I had one closer to Baltimore. The family entertainment centers around here have some good games and attractions, but none offer roller coasters or rides like iPlay!
