I feel like these CAG Reports comes quicker and quicker each and every time I have to sit down to write one. I know that’s not true, but they’ve been sneaking up on me these last few installments. If the saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun,” is true, I guess I’m having fun then, huh? Here’s a look at the month that was July 2021.
Hitting it Rich with Golden Nugget & Black Diamond Entries
After stopping at the Wildwood Historical Society (WHS) Museum in June I finally had the historical photos I needed in order to be able to tackle an installment about one of the most important coasters in my life, Golden Nugget. I’ve long wanted to tackle this coaster and now I finally could.
Entries into the Influential Coasters series, as well as their Modern Take follow ups have been some of my favorite pieces to write. They’ve also been some of the most viewed. Well, in less than a month, the Golden Nugget entry has surpassed every previous installation to date. It’s actually surpassed every piece of writing to appear in this site, minus one. More on that in a few.
You don’t know how happy it makes me to see so many people enjoying my memories on the Golden Nugget and its Black Diamond revamp. I didn’t know how well a coaster that some consider a dark ride, would fair with generating interest. Apparently very well! Have you gotten a chance to either of these two blogs? If not, the links to both are below. Please give them a read and let me know if you’ve experienced this coaster in either iteration.
An UnFOREseen Rise in Popularity
Okay, imagine my shock when I discovered just how popular my Golden Nugget piece was doing. Now try to imagine me looking one spot up and seeing June’s trip report for Fun Fore All out performing it and everything else on the site to date. Yes, “Fun Fore All – 100 Fore Greg,” is now the most viewed writing on We Were Inverted.
Naturally, Greg took the credit, pun intended, for this blog’s popularity. I told him it was probably his mom reading it every day and being so proud of him claiming Fiesta Express as his 100th credit.
His response, “Absolutely!”
See, sometimes a random stop to ride a small coaster can result can be of interest to a lot of people. Who needs Pantheon, Iron Gwazi, and Ice Breaker? Go ride Fiesta Express at Fun Fore All!
Kaylee Promoted to Lieutenant & Claims Credit #75
When I made plans to meet up with crew members Chris D. and Carrie as well as Steven and Rocco from the YouTube channel, Thrill Maxx, at Kings Dominion, I asked Kaylee if she’d like to join us. Sadly, she had plans to visit Six Flags America (SFA) already with a friend that same day. Looks like I’d have to make the trip down alone.
Fast forward a few weeks and Kaylee’s friend was unable to keep their plans. Kaylee asked if the offer was still open to go to Kings Dominion. I said sure and we made the four hour journey down to the park, giving her Lieutenant ranking, while claiming Anaconda as her 75th credit. We also stopped at Funland of Fredericksburg on the way home for Twist-n-Shout.
More Pins, Of Course!
I won’t go into too much detail here other than to say that I picked up just over a dozen new pins this past month. I have Chris D. to thank for once again grabbing a bunch from Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW) for me. I also finally received the Jersey Devil Coaster members pin after some delays in shipping.
My first pin from a Canadian park also found its way to me with the tiny Comet above. That’s the same Comet now at Great Escape, but back when it was still located in it original home of Crystal Beach.
Meeting Up with Friends & Making New Ones
July was certainly a much calmer month than June when it came to amusement park trips. Several of the crew members managed to get out to some parks on their own. As a matter of fact, Mindy and Mailyn just got in their first-ever rides on Velocicoaster hours before writing this. They both loved it and said it was simply, “Awesome.”
A few other crew members also managed to get out for some excursions with some of their friends, but these are the ones I was present for this past month:
- 07.08.2021 – Dorney Park – We Were Inverted & We Were Wet
- 07.18.2021 – Hersheypark – Storm Runner Eases Sam’s Skyrush Sadness
- 07.18.2021 – Kings Dominion – A Day of Appreciation & Thrills
- 07.18.2021 – Funland of Fredericksburg – Kaylee’s Turn
- 07.23.2021 – Hersheypark – Rides, Restaurant, & the Zoo Too
- 07.25.2021 – The Chocolatier – Full-Service Dining inside Hersheypark’s Chocolatetown
Plans for August
I’ve kept it under wraps, but for the last few weeks I’ve been in contact with the person behind one of my favorite YouTube channels about doing an interview for the site. His name is Mike and you probably heard of his channel, Canobie Coaster. I’ve always enjoyed his content and feel like his reviews and footage is only getting better and better with each and every video. Be on the lookout for his two-part in August. Part 1 will focus on Mike as an enthusiast and Part 2 will revolve around his creation and dedication in running Canobie Coaster.
As far as trips go, I do have a trip planned with Sam and Greg to visit Dutch Wonderland the first week of August. Neither of them have visited the park before, so it’ll be fun getting somewhere new with the both of them. I’ve been visiting the park since I was a child, but my trip last year was my first in years. It was hot and muggy, with some slow moving lines due to Covid restrictions. I’m looking forward to hopefully having a more enjoyable day, and this time, doing it with friends.
