CAG Report – June 2021 Recap

June 2021 just very well have been the most eventful month in the site’s first year online. In hindsight, I’m happy to have had so many great times, milestones reached, and new credits obtained during June. Especially in June.

Why June, you ask? Well, I kicked the month off with several trips to celebrate my birthday, but the end of the month holds a lot of significance too. It marks the site’s first year online. Back on June 29, 2020, We Were Inverted launched and has been a massive part of my life ever since. And oh yeah, Sam’s birthday was the day after that – my main wingman during Year One. Happy birthday, Sam!

As you can see, there was so much to celebrate and I’m truly happy that I got to spend it with so many great people, most of which, I didn’t even know at this time last year. This hobby, and site, has allowed me to meet so many people. That’s all I ever wanted from it’s creation. Friendships have been forged and so many memories have already been made. Here’s to a lot more moving forward. For now though, let’s take a look at the events that occurred this past month.

Trips with Friends

Over the course of June 2021, I was lucky enough to attend parks with the following people: Sam, Kaylee, Greg, Chance, Aaron, Mindy, Mailyn, Carley, and Renee. New parks were visited and tons of credits added to everyone’s lists – even mine. I am not even going to try to do recaps of all these trips, as I’ve done in past CAG Reports. There are just too many good times, different parks, and great people, to review again. Instead, I welcome you to click on the trip reports below:

Two Crew Members Reach 100 Credits

Kicking off June, Greg was only a few credits away from reaching 100. After our June 3 trip to Kennywood, he sat at 99. The thing was, we had another stop planned at Fun Fore All afterward to ride Fiesta Express. Greg being Greg, he relished the comedy in having such a small coaster be his 100th. And kudos to Fun Fore All for celebrating with us on their Instagram (@FunForeAll). Talk about an amazing day.

Another amazing day came close to the end of the month when Sam found herself at 98 credits leaving Gillian’s Wonderland Pier (GWP) in Ocean City, N.J. A few short blocks away, at Playland’s Castaway Cove (PCC), four more credits awaited, with GaleForce slated to be her 100th. We jumped on Wild Waves first for 99, since it literally wraps right around what would be her 100th credit. Then it was onto one of the most unique coasters Sam, Greg, Renee, or myself had every experienced.

Congrats to both of you. I’m glad I could be there with you for both of your 100th coasters. I’m so glad it just so happened during the month of June too, with it coinciding with the site’s first year online.

Promotions Galore & a New Crew Member

Of course, with all the trips this month, there were bound to be some promotions on the site. Five different crew members (shown above) moved up a rank in June, or were added to the site, in Kaylee’s case. I fully expect all those ranks to rise in the months, and certainly years, to come.

A Rarity - 10 New Credits for Me in June

Since We Were Inverted’s launch, the world has been dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. Throughout all of 2020 I managed a total of just nine new credits. So far in 2021, I am sitting at 10, and all from this month too. Being only 15 credits shy of 400, it is a milestone I wish to achieve before the end of the year. Things look to be on the right track too. I still plan to sweep through the remaining beach towns in New Jersey and have also talked to Chance about visiting Idlewild and Waldameer eventually. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see another random trip or two thrown in at a park where I can get some new credits.

One Coaster FINALLY Opens & Another FINALLY Re-Opens

The prospect of riding three world-class coasters in this region during 2020 had me so excited. Then 2020 happened. I managed to experience Candymonium at Hersheypark, but I was left to wait until 2021 for Jersey Devil Coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv). And at this rate, I’m guessing Pantheon at Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW) will be opening in the 2030’s?

Thankfully, Jersey Devil opened on June 9th for a members and passholders preview event. Sam and I made an impromptu trip and I gave some of my earliest thoughts about the coaster in the review, “Jersey Devil – Preview Day Thoughts.”

About a week later, Hersheypark finally re-opened Storm Runner. This popular Intamin Accelerator Coaster had been down for close to a year and a half. It is the only coaster at Hershey that Sam has yet to ride, although that might be changing within the week. I, however, made a quick journey up to the park one evening a few weeks ago and was able to manage three long overdue rides. They were hands down, the best ones I’ve ever had on the coaster too.  You can read about that park trip in list up above.

Reaching & Surpassing 500 Pins with 39 Additions

June marked a huge milestone for my Pin Collection. With the addition of a Montezoom’s Revenge pin from Knotts Berry Farm, my collection reached 500. More pins have followed as well, which you can see in the slides above. These are all the pins that were added to the collection throughout June. Some came from eBay and online stores, while others came from our recent trips.

Then there is the green Verbolten (car hood) pin. Greg picked that up off eBay for a birthday present for me. I had been looking at it, but the bidding got a little too high. He swooped in and got it, telling me he wanted me to have it for all the driving and arranging of trips I’ve done since we met. It meant a lot to me. Thank you, Greg! The rest of the BGW pins came on June 30, shipped up from Chris D.

Two of my favorite park visits this year have been with Chance (left). Can't wait to do some more.

What's in Store for July?

Oddly enough, July might be sort of the opposite of June. Many of those listed up above will be headed to parks on their own, or with other friends. Chance and Aaron are always out doing their thing. Mindy and Mailyn have some plans that they’ve invited me to be a part of, but I’m not yet sure if I can commit to going. It’s a super sweet idea, and it’s one I really want to do. Greg is headed to Cedar Point with his friends. Renee has a trip out of the country planned, but I don’t think it involves any roller coasters. Still, pretty cool! Sam is also meeting a long distance friend of hers, with plans to take her to several area amusement parks. What is a CAG to do? I best get to planning something for myself here. Looks like I might be flying some solo missions in July.
