Editor’s Note: This trip report was reformatted in 2022 to match the current style, including photo galleries and ride counts. Older trip reports, however, detailed every ride of the day, whereas newer reports only touch upon a handful of rides. In order to preserve what I wrote, you will still find each ride detailed below.
Whenever I do a road trip to a major amusement park, I always look to see if there are any smaller parks, mountain coasters, or indoor attractions that might feature a coaster or two near by. That’s how I found Fun Land of Fredericksburg (FoF) last year. Elaina and I were heading down to Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW) for her birthday. I found FoF right off interstate 95 and knew it would be a quick stop for a credit. What I didn’t realize, however, is just how much there is to do at FoF.
If you combine both their indoor and outdoor attractions, you can easily spend countless hours doing: laser tag, rock climbing, arcade games, go karts, mini-golf, and of course, their SBF Visa spinning coaster, Twist-n-Shout. Sadly, here in 2020, I was back at FoF without time to do any of these other things.
Twist-n-Shout was once again the reason for the stop – this time so Sam and Greg could get their credits. I really want to come back and spend some time at FoF eventually. My aim is to do that in the spring of 2021, when it’s nice outside and I can venture both indoors and outdoors. Naturally, I will share all that this amazing entertainment center has to offer when that does happen.
I Sit Out to Film
I sat out from riding on this go around to FoF. Since we were arriving when FoF opened its doors, I wasn’t sure how many guests they’d have and if any of those guests would be riding the coaster. I didn’t want to risk not having any video. This is similar to what I did back on October 10, when we stopped at Adventure Park USA (ADPUSA). Greg needed credits on Tumbleweed and Wild West Express, so we made it a stop on our way to Knoebels.
Twist-n-Shout
With my cameras in hand, Sam and Greg boarded the front row (per my request) and got ready to earn their newest credits – Sam’s 70th and Greg’s 86th. For the next few minutes, the they spun around the figure eight shaped course over and over again. It seemed like an eternity before their ride came to an end. Good on FoF for giving people a good, lengthy ride.

Meeting "In The Loop's" Clint Novak
As we prepared to leave, I was finally able to touch base with FoF’s General Manager, Clint Novak, in person. If that name is familiar, it is because he is known for creating the In The Loop Podcast back in 2004. You have probably seen him countless times in YouTube videos too. Be sure to check out the In The Loop YouTube channel for lots of great content. They have some awesome park reports and videos that I am always checking out.
I didn’t even know that Novak managed FoF until Chris D. told me a few days prior. Clint and I touched base and we aimed to meet up during our visit. I was glad we had a few minutes to chat with him before making our way down to BGW. A total nice guy and no, he wasn’t wearing the spinning propeller cap!
Wishing for More Time for More Fun at Funland
Saying our good-byes to Clint, I wished we had more time to spend exploring all FoF has to offer. I will definitely be back in 2021, hopefully with Sam and Greg. The three of us want to dive into the various other activities at Fun Land. Greg and I were even talking about different filming angles for when that happens.
By then, hopefully we can have a nice lengthy video of the day on the We Were Inverted YouTube channel. That’s a work in progress with mostly just a few POV videos to this point. Now that this site is mostly established with all its elements in working order, I’d like to focus some time on that in 2021.
