Wildcat's Revenge - Hersheypark

Hersheypark – A Sweet Start With An Epic Finish

It had been a while since I visited a park with Greg. Too long! When he reached out to me about tagging along to a Hersheypark trip he was planning with Tim, I instantly wanted to go. One problem though – I work on Thursdays. Thankfully, I was able to take off and Jen was also free that day allowing her to come along as well. I had been wanting her and Greg to meet and now we finally had the chance.

We got to the park early since we all had Sweet Start entry and got things underway. I’m used to the park opening at 11 a.m. and going in at 10 a.m. for Sweet Start. On this day, however, the park opened at 10 a.m., so Sweet Start began at 9 a.m. That meant getting up up a little earlier to get out on the road, but all worked out as planned.

Fahrenheit - Hersheypark
Fahrenheit, as usual, was the longest wait during our visit.

Entering Early Helped Out Due to a Storm

You would have never guessed that we lost over an hour of our day due to a passing storm once you see our final ride counts down below. While in line for Coal Cracker the entire park shut down and remained down for about 80 minutes. I can only imagine how many more rides we would have gotten had that not been the case. Oh well, no complaints. We still got to ride so many rides, including some non-coasters as well.

Candymonium

We kicked off our day by going straight to Candymonium. This ride usually draws heavy crowds once the park officially opens, so we took advantage of our Sweet Start access. Tim also needed the credit along with Wildcat’s Revenge.

We ended up riding Candymonium three times in a row. The most we waited was two trains, for a front row ride. We rode in the back for our other two rides. Even though it was just after 9 a.m., the airtime was strong. I worried the ride would be running slow so early in the morning, but it didn’t feel that way. The same can’t be said for the next coaster we rode, however.

Wildcat's Revenge

After we finished up with Candymonium, Sweet Start was minutes from being over. We decided to head straight to Wildcat’s Revenge as both Greg and Tim needed the credit. This is also Jen’s favorite steel coaster and is in my Top 10 as well.

Much like Candymonium, there was no line. We boarded the back of the train as no one was waiting for the last four rows. I had told Greg and Tim that although the back row rides are great on Wildcat’s Revenge, Sam and I prefer the front. We would head there next for our second ride and I was eager to see what they thought after getting one in each.

After riding both the front and the back Greg and Tim were impressed. The funny thing was, the trains were running super slow. Jen noticed it too and we told them that the ride would only get faster and better throughout the day. We rode two more times, which felt faster each time.

Greg and Tim loved the ride, but really wanted to see what it was like later in the day. And that’s where we finished off the night.

All in all, Jen and Tim rode six more times, finishing the night with 10 total rides on Wildcat’s Revenge. Greg and I rode two more times to end the night with six. Greg wanted to get a couple more laps and a ride photo from Lightning Racer, so I ventured over with him to do that instead.

Skyrush

Among our group of four I was the only one who had experienced Skyrush with its new restraints.. None of them had seen the changes made to the station either. I was eager to see what they thought of both.

When it came to the station, Greg loved the new look, although he does prefer the old logo. I like the simple one, but do understand where he’s coming from. Like Sam, he also enjoyed the audio played when trains departed and returned to the station. The audio and station theming has been a nice touch on Jolly Rancher Remix, Wildcat’s Revenge, and now Skyrush. I hope the trend continues moving forward.

As for the restraints, they seemed to be a hit with everyone. Even Jen said she doesn’t hate the ride now. She would usually hop on it a time or two, but admitted it wasn’t her favorite at the park. I guess I’ll have to see if she’ll ride it 10 times in a row with me like she does on Wildcat’s Revenge..

A Return So Soon?

Even though we managed to get on so many rides during this visit, Jen and I will be back at the park on Monday, August 19. A few coworkers of mine have been asking me about going to another park before the end of summer. I wanted to visit Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) before the end of summer, but with Flash Vertical Velocity being installed anything but fast, that will have to wait. My coworkers don’t mind though as they all love Hersheypark.

Be on the lookout for that trip report in the coming weeks with some more photos from that day hitting the Hersheypark Gallery. If you haven’t checked out the Galleries portion of the site, I suggest taking a look. There you can find all the photos from these trip reports organized by park and then by ride on each park’s page. Some parks, like Hersheypark, have hundreds of photos and dozens of rides. As always, thanks for stopping by!
