I met Josh (a.k.a. Chance the Cheapthusiast) a few weeks after launching We Were Inverted. We both belong to the Facebook group, Coaster Appreciation Society (CAS), and saw that we live less than two hours from one another. We began chatting and not too long after, made plans to visit Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) to meet one another in person. Sadly, the forecast called for an 80 percent chance of rain that day, so I decided not to make the trip. Josh still went and happened to make some other “friends” instead. Watch his vlog, “Another Challenging Day at Six Flags Great Adventure,” and meet the women who wanted to throw down with his group by Harley Quinn Crazy Train.
Seven months later, in March 2021, I finally got to meet met Josh and Aaron, along with their friend, Matt, for the first time at Six Flags America (SFA). It was a fun day and I knew after only a couple of rides that I’d be hanging out with these guys again in the future. So far, we’ve managed to visit a few regional parks, but I’m sure we’ll go somewhere a little further away at some point.
Now for some fun. As we’ve gotten to know one another, Josh and I are always clowning on each other. One of the most notable times came on my birthday in 2021. Josh decided to wish me a happy birthday by Photoshopping me onto various coasters – most notably, Twister at Knoebels. He used an image of me from his Hersheypark vlog, “Cheap Thoosies Visit Hersheypark Spring 2021,” where I was eating a slice of pizza. Long story short, I made a playful comment under the post that Facebook deemed as “promoting violence.” I was given a 24 hour ban and I blame Josh 100 percent.
Not too long after those shenanigans took place, Josh began asking me when he was going to become part of the We Were Inverted Flight Crew. Since he runs his own channel, I figured he was just being his normal goofy self. I came up with some Navy-themed explanation to fit in with this site’s theming, saying since he runs Cheapthusiast, I consider him as more of an ally. I had no idea he was being serious though.
Fast forward a few months and while filming the Hersheypark vlog, “Saying Goodbye to Wildcat at Hersheypark,” Josh goes on this tangent about how I won’t let him join the crew. That’s when I decided to induct Aaron right in front of him. I then let him in too, but as payback for getting me Facebook banned on my birthday, he will always know that Aaron got in first!
