Q&A: 2021 Flight Crew Reflections – Chris D.

As 2021 draws to a close, I asked some of the We Were Inverted Flight Crew to take part in a mini-interview to share some of their experiences from throughout the year. Learn about their new credits and learn about some of their fondest memories spent at amusement parks this year.

New Coaster Credits

Q. How many new credits did you gain in 2021?

A. Six. Three each at Dutch Wonderland and Adventure Park USA. [See Chris’ blog: “Coaster Credits are Coaster Credits, Right?“]

Q. Of those credits, what was your favorite steel coaster?

A. Merlin’s Mayhem at Dutch Wonderland. I was most looking forward to Kingdom Coaster, but this family invert was a really enjoyable ride. It’s always good to see the theming extend beyond the queue and into the ride itself. This ride was a lot of fun.

Q. How about wooden coaster? Which was your favorite of the year?

A. Kingdom Coaster, also at Dutch Wonderland. I definitely enjoyed this one, but was surprised by the lack of airtime I got – even in the back row. It is still a fun ride and the paint scheme is fabulous.

New Parks Visited

Q. Did you get to visit any new parks in 2021? If so, which one(s) did you enjoy the most?

A. Adventure Park USA. Honestly, “enjoy” would be a pretty strong word. I snagged my credits and got out of there.

2021 Memories & 2022 Hopes

Q. What are some of your favorite memories from your trips in 2021?

A. I have two. The first one was watching my youngest daughter expand her coaster credit list by tackling every major coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Prior to this year, she had only ridden Loch Ness Monster, InvadR, and Grover’s Alpine Express. [See Chris’ blog: “Hannah’s Big Coaster Day.”]

My second memory was hanging out with Steven and Rocco from Thrill Maxx at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Kings Dominion. I was able to watch Steven experience Busch Gardens for the first time and that was a very cool experience.

Q. What are some of your hopes/goals for trips in 2022?

A. I’m hopeful that 2022 is finally the year I get to Cedar Point. I also would like to do a Pennsylvania swing to return to Hersheypark and Knoebels, but also add in Dorney Park and possibly, Kennywood.

A lot of great memories at various amusement parks on numerous roller coasters were experienced throughout 2021. It was great getting to relive these experiences and we hope that you enjoyed reading about each and every one of them as they happened here on We Were Inverted. We can’t wait to share more with you in 2022 and beyond.
