Q&A: 2021 Flight Crew Reflections – Kaylee

As 2021 draws to a close, I asked some of the We Were Inverted Flight Crew to take part in a mini-interview to share some of their experiences from throughout the year. Learn about their new credits and learn about some of their fondest memories spent at amusement parks this year.

New Coaster Credits

Q. How many new credits did you gain in 2021?

A. I got 61 new credits this year.

Q. Of those credits, what was your favorite steel coaster?

A. I have three – Verbolten, Phantom’s Revenge, and Twisted Timbers. Verbolten, no spoilers, made me laugh. Phantom’s Revenge has an amazing layout and a bunch of airtime. Twisted Timbers was my first RMC and it was amazing. It also has a bunch of airtime hills and made me realize what Roar could be if it was converted into an RMC.

Q. How about wooden coaster? Which was your favorite of the year?

A. Mystic Timbers was great. Those two rides in October were full of airtime through the woods. It was so much fun. I also enjoyed the show in the shed coming back to the station.

Kaylee snapped this photos while working at Darien Lake back in May.
New Parks Visited

Q. Did you get to visit any new parks in 2021? If so, which one(s) did you enjoy the most?

A. I visited two new parks as a Six Flags employee and nine new parks as a guest. I would say my favorite parks were Six Flags Darien LakeKennywood, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

Kaylee spotted Sam & I by chance at Six Flags America on a very rainy day back in March.
2021 Memories & 2022 Hopes

Q. What are some of your favorite memories from your trips in 2021?

A. I have two favorite memories. The first one is working for Six Flags America and the universe working in mysterious ways. If I was never on top the lift for Penguin Blizzard River, or had looked on Instagram that day, I would have never have met this crew. (see blog: “Six Flags America – Jinxed No More“)

The other memory was visiting Six Flags Darien Lake. Being an employee meant I could go to different Six Flags parks to work, if they needed the help. I was lucky enough to help at Darien Lake earlier this year. The best part was the day I trained for the rides, the park was open for a few hours for friends and family only. They allowed me to ride some of the rides since the rides that I knew were already staffed and I had nothing better to do.

Q. What are some of your hopes/goals for trips in 2022?

A. I’m hoping to get credit 120 on Leap the Dips for its 120th anniversary. I’m also hoping to visit Cedar PointSix Flags Great Escape, Darien Lake, and maybe New England.

A lot of great memories at various amusement parks on numerous roller coasters were experienced throughout 2021. It was great getting to relive these experiences and we hope that you enjoyed reading about each and every one of them as they happened here on We Were Inverted. We can’t wait to share more with you in 2022 and beyond.
