As 2021 draws to a close, I asked some of the We Were Inverted Flight Crew to take part in a mini-interview to share some of their experiences from throughout the year. Learn about their new credits and learn about some of their fondest memories spent at amusement parks this year.
New Coaster Credits
Q. How many new credits did you gain in 2021?
A. It was 75, if I added everything up correctly.
Q. Of those credits, what was your favorite steel coaster?
A. Banshee at Kings Island. As the Inverted Queen (@InvertedQueen), I am always happy to ride another B&M invert and Banshee’s intensity absolutely blew me away.
Q. How about wooden coaster? Which was your favorite of the year?
A. Mystic Timbers, also at Kings Island. It was just an absolute airtime machine and was so awesome. Plus, I really love the theming and the shed gets way too much hate.
New Parks Visited
Q. Did you get to visit any new parks in 2021? If so, which one(s) did you enjoy the most?
A. I sure did, so many that I can’t remember the exact number. So many Cedar Fair parks too. Kings Island and Carowinds were my favorites for the ride collections. Carowinds stands out more because it was my first super long-distance trip to a park and I had the best company in the world too.
2021 Memories & 2022 Hopes
Q. What are some of your favorite memories from your trips in 2021?
A. Getting to ride ride Fury 325 you and Greg, plus his family. That was my number one bucket list coaster at the time. It was nice to meet Greg’s family and see they were just as down to ride all the coasters with us. They were such amazing company and made for a great trip!
I also finally got my credit on Storm Runner at Hersheypark and also asked my now-girlfriend, Kyla, to date me from the launch. Nothing like asking her out in one of the most coaster nerd ways I could think of. Oh, and riding every seat on Skyrush in one day with you at Hershey too. That’s a day I’ll never forget either.
Then there was getting my 100th credit on Galeforce at Playland’s Castaway Cove and getting to be there with you at Kings Island for your 400th on Orion a few months later. And one final memory… Finding my love of log flumes thanks to Chance, the Cheapthusiast.
Q. What are some of your hopes/goals for trips in 2022?
A. Hopefully getting to go to Dollywood and Cedar Point. I’m also hoping to get Kyla down to Busch Gardens Williamsburg since we’re both very excited for Pantheon’s opening season.
A lot of great memories at various amusement parks on numerous roller coasters were experienced throughout 2021. It was great getting to relive these experiences and we hope that you enjoyed reading about each and every one of them as they happened here on We Were Inverted. We can’t wait to share more with you in 2022 and beyond.
