At the end of September I embarked on a journey throughout New Jersey that saw me stop at six different locations in attempts to get my credit count to 399. The plan was to be sitting at 399 when I visited Kings Island in October and make Orion my 400th credit. If you read through those trip reports or watched the vlog series on the We Were Inverted YouTube channel, you know that I fell one credit short of my goal. That meant I’d need to find a credit prior to Kings Island. Enter Scene75.
Scene75 is an entertainment center chain, and luckily for me, there were two of their locations on the way to Kings Island from Baltimore – one in Columbus and one in Dayton. Since I needed only one credit before Kings Island, my plan was to stop at Columbus first for their SBF Visa spinning coaster, Nuclear Rush. If for some reason it wasn’t running, then we’d head to Dayton for their spinning coaster, also by SBF Visa, Tsunami. If everything worked out with Nuclear Rush, then we’d save the Dayton stop for our trip home. More on that in a bit.
Two Floors of Fun
Arriving at the Scene75 in Columbus I was happy to see that Nuclear Rush was up and running. We picked up our credits, adding enough to the card to also cover our stop on Monday at the Dayton location. From there, we went upstairs.
This location is found at The Mall at Tuttle Crossing and encompasses two floors. It appears to be located in a former endcap store. You’ll find rides, arcades, attractions, and even food and drinks scattered throughout. The establishment is truly vast. Kaylee pointed out that the drop tower takes riders up from the first floor, to the second, before dropping and bouncing them up and down.
Like with most of these places we’ve grouped with larger park stops, I only wish we had more time to experience their other offerings. Sadly, this was just a short stop for a coaster credit – credit 399 and my fifth consecutive SBF Visa credit. Those include:
- 395. Freedom Rider – iPlay America
- 396. Tidal Wave – Jenkinson’s Boardwalk
- 397. Hang Ten – Fantasy Island
- 398. Loco Motion – Steel Pier
- 399. Nuclear Rush – Scene75: Columbus
Nuclear Rush
As we made our way to Nuclear Rush, I was already liking what I saw with the theming. With all the SBF Visa spinner credits I’ve obtained these last few years, it’s getting quite interesting to see how vastly different each one of them are themed. Nuclear Rush, while featuring the simple banner sign above the loading area, still sticks out as one of the more visually interesting installments of this coaster type I’ve come across. The back wall features a wrap showing the coaster’s name, amusement park and city imagery, and fallout symbols. It really gives the coaster a setting rather than just plain black walls.
The fencing around the coaster features little signs warning of radiation and contamination. I have included a photo of two of those signs in the gallery below. And speaking of the fencing, you can walk clear around this coaster as the fencing is not up against the wall. This is something a photographer, like myself, truly appreciates. I’m sure it comes in handy for parents wanting to film their kids on the ride as well.
Lastly, my favorite aspect of Nuclear Rush is the trains. Some SBF Visa spinning coasters feature trains with interesting decals and color schemes. While not as excessive as Xolo Loca at Casino Pier, Nuclear Rush’s trains are pretty good at keeping with the ride’s overall theme.
As for the ride, neither the cart that I was in, nor the one with Sam and Kaylee spun too much. I know Sam and I aren’t fond of relentless spinning, like we got on Myrtle Turtle at Pavilion Park back in August when we nabbed two more SBF Visa spinning credits. On the second one, however, Fun in the Sun at Funplex: Myrtle Beach, we elected to ride in the hamster wheel carts.
Long story short, Nuclear Rush wasn’t a wild ride, but we weren’t exactly hoping for one either.

Scene75: Dayton - My Faux Pas
To close out this trip report, I want to make mention of our trip to Scene75: Dayton. It didn’t happen. I was an idiot and didn’t realize that Scene75 is not open on Mondays and therefore we did not get our Tsunami credit. I realized this Saturday night after we got back from our second day at Kings Island. I tried to think of a way to sneak in the visit before or after our Holiday World plans on Sunday, but it just didn’t line up with timing-wise, especially since we were dealing with two different time zones in order to make that work.
In hindsight I wish I had finished my Quest for 399 in September two credits short so we could have visited both Scene75 locations on Friday. It’s much easier for us to visit New Jersey than it is for us to get out to Dayton. Plus, I wanted Sam and Kaylee to experience the MX612 SBF Visa spinning model. It would have been their first non-figure eight layout. Bummer! Hope the credits on this card don’t expire. I guess we’ll have to plan another trip out to Ohio that isn’t on a Monday or Tuesday.
